For years, scientists have been using stem cells to help cure diseases and research different illnesses that come from deformed cells. In recent years, however, a debate has risen over where we should get these stem cells from. Because of the way stem cells are helping sick individuals and furthering research, the use of stem cells shouldn’t be stopped. The sources from which stem cells are acquired, however, should be limited. While acquiring adult stem cells is completely safe and productive, using embryonic stem cells is unethical in the way they are acquired. For this reason, the use of adult stem cells should be allowed, but the use of embryonic stem cells should be banned. Stem cells are cells that originate from an embryo or adult†¦show more content†¦Another reason why we need stem cells is because they replace damaged cells. Stem cells coordinate the repair of infected or damaged cells, so if we did not have stem cells, basic illnesses or injuries could prove fatal. Sometimes our bodies do not contain enough stem cells to fight off a particular infection. In these cases, it would be beneficial to have the ability to offer stem cell transplants. Both types of stem cells can be used for transplants, but adult stem cells would offer a safer option. The use of adult stem cells is safe, ethical, and extremely useful. Adult stem cells are used to generate healthy cells to replace diseased cells in humans. These stem cells can also be used to test new drugs for safety and effectiveness before actually giving these drugs to people. Because the extraction and use of adult stem cells is safe and helpful, it should not be limited. Scientists have even found that some adult stem cells may be able to create unrelated types of cells, which is something that they previously thought only embryonic stem cells could do. Also, scientists have been able to alter adult stem cells to act like embryonic stem cells in plasticity and in how replicable they are. The science of adult stem cells is, and should, be furthered because of the positive effects they have in the health field and scientific research (Mayo ClinicShow MoreRelatedWhat Is the Importance and Functions of Bios?3875 Words   |  16 PagesDEPARTMENT CITY OF MALOLOS, BULACAN BASIC INPUT-OUTPUT SYSTEM (BIOS) In Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements in Research and Technical Writing A Thesis Proposal Presented to Professor Marjorie M. It is non-volatile – information is not lost when the power is off. In this sense we could call it secondary storage. Secondly, ROM is read-only. It can’t be easily erased or written over on a continuous basis as RAM can. And it’s used to store information that must be present in order for the PC to start running and function. On Intel-based computers, the system BIOS controls the initial operating system boot process. After the initial Power on Self Test when hardware components are initialized, the system BIOS identifies the boot device. Typically, this is a floppy disk or a hard disk. In the case of the hard disk, the BIOS reads the first physical sector on the disk, called the Master Boot Sector, and loads an image of it into memory. The BIOS then transfers control to Master Boot Sector.
